What Sends Me to Bed At Night

The sun dripping orange and pink across the mountain top.

The crickets singing their two-note song to each other.

The white halo of clouds circling the mountains giving way effortlessly to a soft Prussian blue and then to midnight blue and finally deepening like sleep into inky black.

The stars switching on their brilliance, one by one, twinkling in their delight to join the moon in the deep night sky - each pin prick a reminder of the sun sure to appear in the morning.

A warm, caring embrace rocking me to sleep.

Good night, world.

In Retirement, the evening gives way to night with no effort - all tasks can truly wait until tomorrow!
